CWL’s existing Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was constructed in 1979. The 40-year old plant is approaching the end of its useful life; therefore, CWL plans to replace this treatment facility to address end-of-life issues. Additionally, the replacement will set CWL up to increase plant capacity and accommodate potentially more stringent regulatory requirements. The new facility will improve capacity and add hydraulic flow increase which will mitigate sanitary sewer overflows in west Jonesboro. Construction of the plant buildings and treatment structures should begin in early 2022, with a projected completion date in late 2023 or early 2024.
